Since I have been home throughout the pandemic and the online school year, it has been a struggle for me mentally. However, I try to stay positive, which is a new mindset I started to take on. When I stay positive about my life and well-being, I can focus on what goals I want to accomplish and fun activities I can partake in during these difficult times. I find time to exercise, meditate and have “me time.”
I felt anger, sadness and other indescribable feelings when hearing about the newer instances of unarmed Black men being killed and when the Capitol was stormed – the color of my skin is still seen as a target rather than as human. Then, I go back to my mindset of positivity for my well-being while still thinking about these pressing issues. One may say that my positive mindset is just a facade, but I believe it is a way to grow and continue to push through.
